Families in Care at Durham University

child protection advocacy, support, adoption suppor
In recognition of growing needs and our unique, professional and valuable service to birth families the Durham University Pro Bono Society (DUPS) in partnership with Families in Care have created an exciting project aimed to support birth parents involved in child protection and / or care proceedings.

The project has been successfully running for over 3 years now.
This is how it works:
Families in Care at Durham University recruits up to six family law students who receive  extensive training and eventually become actively involved in our work by providing information and support for parents, attending Child Protection Meetings and Family Court Proceedings.
The law students are also offered the opportunity to work alongside social work students and professionals working within the Child Protection arena thus gaining valuable experience of the application of family law in practice.
Please contact Families in Care to find out more about this service.
